THE GRAND HOTEL TORQUAY

The Grand Hotel in Torquay has been coated in colour with an array of GAP LIGHTING SMART SYNC luminaries. Providing a stunning illumination that is head-turning from afar, the dynamic lighting scheme created perfectly complements its coastal surroundings. The extensive renovation of this hotel has been carried out in stages, beginning with the illumination of the hotel’s prominent GRAND sign on the building’s façade. GAP LIGHTING’s highly efficient colour changing NEON FLEX outlines each letter with a vivid neon-effect glow that is eye-catching from a considerable distance and sets the visually aesthetic tone of the building.

Secondly, the hotel’s rear elevation required a permanent lighting solution that provided flexibility to adapt colour settings, as the hotel also operates as a wedding venue. In collaboration with skilled installers and our technical team’s expertise, the 200W RGBCCT iFLOOD was specified and installed with precision to achieve this impressive showcase across the hotel façade. Featuring integrated 2.4GHz RF and Zigbee 3.0 technology, plus RGB+CCT colour tunable capabilities; these low profile LED luminaries can be zoned and adjusted both simultaneously and independently, creating bespoke lighting scenes tailored to different events and occasions.

One of the many key features of the SMART SYNC system is its colour tunable technology which enables a spectrum of colour changing options as well as adjustable white temperatures ranging from a warm white 2700K to a cool 6000K. Another benefit is its built-in memory, which was a priority for the customer and provided ultimate convenience.

PRIVATE HOME WALK-IN WARDBROBE

Here at GAP LIGHTING, we love to transform a space. So we were delighted to be invited to offer a lighting scheme for a stunning contemporary new-build residence, whereby the master bedroom extends into a spectacular walk-in dressing room. With built-in displays, shelving, storage compartments, coffers, and floor space formatting the area; immersive lighting was the last component to bring this space to life.

In collaboration with Hewett Electrical Torquay, one of our technical representatives provided an on-site consultation to determine the client’s lighting requirements and to achieve precise product specification. A key objective of the brief was for the user to have the ability to create different lighting experiences within one space. Offering RGB CCT colour tunable technology and compatibility with SMART tuneable devices, iFLEX was the ultimate solution to create indirect versatile linear illumination throughout this stunning dressing room. Each element of this LED striplight surpassed the customer’s expectations; from its RGB colour spectrum and high powered luminosity, to its smooth dimming and adjustable white capabilities. Incorporating smart wireless RF 2.4G technology, iFLEX can be controlled simply via app or various remotes.

For this residential space, the client preferred GAP LIGHTING’s SMART SYNC 4-zone wall panel which enables the user to transform their space to suit their desire in an instant and create bespoke lighting schemes at their fingertip.

BRIDGWATER TOWN HALL

The Bridgwater Town Hall, built by C. Knowles, is located in the heart of the historic market town, and is host to the annual carnival concert as well as a variety of events throughout the year. We were very thankful to Robson Electrics, who played a pivotal role in attaining the requirements and desires of Bridgwater’s Council to illuminate this beautiful three-story Georgian-style building. After liaising with Adrian Robson, it was established that a high-powered luminaire was required to not only highlight the building’s facade and create columns of light, but to also offer variable controllable colour options that could easily be changed when required.

GAP LIGHTING’S revolutionary SMART SYNC LED Floodlights provided the perfect solution, enabling different lighting experiences to be created through tuneable RGBCCT technology and smart wireless RF control. Using our 8-zone remote, the entire structure can be illuminated and colour changed with the touch of a finger, creating a striking lighting design that distinguishes the town centre by a smooth control system.

We proposed our narrow beam 25 degrees iFLOODS to be installed along the front facade – 12 facing upwards and 12 facing downwards – to create the bold column effect. Providing 100W of power and 8000 Lumens per fitting; the overall lighting effect is stunning, offering multiple colour options, as well as adjustable white temperatures to generate lighting sequences that can directly reflect Bridgwater’s special events and celebrations. Thanks to the simplicity of the SMART SYNC technology and the expertise of the Robson Electrics team, a smooth installation brought this project to life.

SUNBORN YACHT HOTEL

The Sunborn Yacht Hotel sits prominently on the waterside in the heart of London’s exclusive Docklands. Moored just outside the Excel Exhibition Centre, this super yacht provides a unique living experience and adds glamour to the city with its polished decks, glistening glass, and stunning façade, and thanks to GAP LIGHTING’S colourful illumination, an impressive facade. Our small yet powerful 25W ECHO spotlights have been strategically installed along the dockside and angled onto the water to reflect a shimmering colour wash across the entire yacht. Featuring RGBCCT technology, fully tuneable warm white 2700k to cool white 6500k with a full spectrum of RGB colour changing options, these discrete, slimline luminaires generate dynamic lighting sequences ranging from soft ambient to vibrant illumination. Housed in die-cast aluminium with a highly resistant black powder coating, IP65 protection, and high quality engineering, ensures long-term outdoor performance and durability for a long lasting lighting effect.

Our GL25-ECHO ground light has also been installed alongside our 240V NEON LED FLEX to enhance the stunning visual impact of this yacht hotel. With its sleek appearance, IP65 rating, and luminosity power of 600, our SL-240NEON-RGB is fitted using aluminium fixing clips along the railings, walkways, and stairways, forming a smooth neon-like glow along the boat’s external contours. Cuttable at every 1000mm and allowing for 50 metre continuous runs, this flexible linear light fixture provides the perfect aesthetic. GAP LIGHTING’S bespoke cutting service simplified installation and enabled tailored precision. Controlled via our multi zone handheld touch remote, which offer an extensive range of colour possibilities and lighting experiences through smart wireless RF technology. In union, these installations brighten and enhance the yacht hotel, delivering a striking visual impact whilst providing versatility, adjustability, and practicality through seamless control systems for everyday operation.

NORMANTON CHURCH

Perched on the edge of Rutland Water is Normanton Church, Rutland’s most famous landmark and sought-after wedding venue. As it floats above the lake, the structure requires illumination that enhances its timeless beauty and helps it stand out amongst the natural surrounding scenery. GAP LIGHTING’s iFLOODS have brought this beautiful place of worship back to life and given it the transformation that it truly deserved. FL100-RGB-CCT offers an impressive fusion of performance, efficiency, and colour control. With tuneable white tones from 2700k to 6500k, as well as a full spectrum of RGB colour changing possibilities, this product effectively highlights the structure’s stunning architecture, whilst allowing for a variety of lighting experiences to mirror different celebrations, such as the Queen’s Jubilee, Pride Month, the Royal Coronation, weddings and Ukraine war awareness.

The SMART SYNC iFLOOD has a 25° narrow beam angle for an intense spotlight effect, ideal for accentuating the church’s historic stonework and highlighting its features. In addition to a sleek low profile design, and a high quality die-cast aluminium housing, the IP65 protection enables these luminaires installations to withstand the elements of their lakeside location. Through smooth dimming control, the fittings operate in synchrony for a cohesive and refined visual impact that creates a beautiful glow across the monotone reservoir. This is operated via 2.4G RF remote or phone app, and with integrated auto-send / auto-sync technology, each floodlight will communicate with the next, allowing for seamless synchronisation. GAP LIGHTING’s iFLOODS are easily controllable and offer a perfect lighting solution that merges modern technology with timeless design to produce eye-catching aesthetics that can visually reflect an array of occasions.

GROUNDHOG OFFICE

Groundhog UK Ltd, is a manufacturer of site welfare accommodation units built from scratch, operating from a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Neath, South Wales. GAP LIGHTING were delighted to be chosen to assist with the lighting design for this beautiful, brand-new build of their head office and to provide various advanced LED lighting solutions for both the exterior and interior spaces. The first phase was to outline the front facade of the entire glass building, providing perimeter illumination.

Our linear 240V NEON FLEX was the perfect product for this application, as it offers flexibility, endurance, and driverless convenience, allowing continuous long runs up to 50 metres. Offering a low sustainable power consumption of only 15 Watts per metre, whilst generating 1280 Lumens of warm white neon effect LED light, this product has truly enhanced the structure and provided a bright, seamless, linear illumination from out to in.

GAP LIGHTING’s minimal lighting design continues throughout the interior area using our bespoke UNITY designs; a collection of suspendable circular LED luminaries, which create rings of light with a halo design. Groundhog wanted to transform the dark spaces above the stairs, and so several UNITY’s were hung from the high ceiling to provide a striking lighting feature in the stairwells, implementing an anti-glare glow of light within the open plan office areas. The overall lighting aesthetics of this project are stunning, and the entire team involved were very pleased with the results. GAP LIGHTING’s bespoke design service meant that we were able to offer something unique whilst creating an interesting, yet purposeful lighting environment.

UNIVERSITY OF SALFORD

The University of Salford, situated just west of Manchester, stretches across 160 acres of parkland along the banks of The River Irwell and is a hub for education, industry and commerce to over 26,000 students. As the university continues to renovate and uplift its various faculties, GAP LIGHTING’s energy efficient iFLOODS have been installed to provide colourful illumination in and around the campus. Part of our SMART SYNC collection, these high quality RGBCCT floodlights offer endless colour changing possibilities and deliver a luminosity power of 8000Lm with a light output distance of 40 metres.

For the main building, only three 100W iFLOODS were required to illuminate the University of Salford sign and to create a colour wash across the front facade, which can be seen from afar and offers a warm welcome to visitors and passers by. Set to smoothly synchronise through a spectrum of bright, vibrant colours, the university’s focus on smart living is highlighted through GAP LIGHTING’S advanced technology and innovation.

THE ROYAL EXCHANGE

The Royal Exchange takes the reign as the most exquisite retail experience in the City of London, home to fine dining and luxury heritage brands, with a history in trade spanning over 450 years. This beautiful Romanesque building provides a key landmark to our city, so it was a pleasure to be asked to offer a lighting solution for both the interior and exterior facades.

The first challenge was to illuminate the eight 40ft-tall Corinthian columns which mark the foundation of the structure’s exterior. A high luminaire was required to cast a strong beam of light down each column. Delivering a luminosity power of 20,000Lm, GAP LIGHTING’S 200W SMART SYNC iFLOODS provide powerful warm white beams of light which can be changed with simple touch control. RGBCCT colour tunable technology allows these floodlights to be colour changed in sync to replect various special calendar days and events. In addition to their IP65 protection, these fittings offer a highly resistant coating to guarantee durability for exterior exposure.

The second task was to provide interior lighting for the main dining which could be set on white or Warmwhite if desired, but could also provide different lighting experiences as and when required. The challenge was the positioning of each light fixture as they had to fit inside circular cavities dotted around the main hall. GAP LIGHTING’S SMART SYNC RGBCCT 25W ECHO offered the perfect solution. The ultra slimline design and small circular profile enabled these luminaries to slot discretely into each cavity, providing an even spread of light throughout the interior space. Advanced auto send + auto sync technology enables each product to speak to the next, so unlimited lights could be controlled simultaneously. This aligned with the end user’s desire for smart simplicity and colour control. Using GAP LIGHTING’S SMART SYNC 8-zone remote, both the interior and exterior lights can be controlled simultaneously as and when required.

O2 ARENA

The Design District at the O2 is a transformative urban area offering living and office spaces. GAP LIGHTING’S SMART SYNC ECHO spotlights have been installed at low level along the pathways to provide a low energy LED solution whilst enhancing pedestrian accessibility with ambient architectural illumination.

WEMBLEY ARENA

With GAP LIGHTING’s technical knowledge and expertise, energy company SSE Group have really been able to put their stamp on Wembley Arena, with their striking corporate colours of green and blue illuminating the interior ceilings. Our SL240 mains RGB LED FLEX was the perfect solution for a long-run driver-free installation. Another very successful lighting design from GAP LIGHTING offering a low-energy lighting solution with vibrant colour and amazing results.

DUBLIN’S HEUSTON STATION

Dublin’s Heuston Station built in 1844, is the city’s principal rail station, so it was an exciting opportunity to provide colourful illumination to this iconic landmark. Our aim was to highlight the architectural features and beautiful arched windows with flexible illumination that can be changed at the touch of a finger for the city’s special days and events. GAP LIGHTING’S SMART SYNC iFLOODS offer the ultimate solution for low energy, colour tunable, architectural lighting. Incorporating advanced RF technology and multiple colour changing modes, iFLOODS can be controlled via app or choice of remotes, which enable unlimited units to be synchronised.

WATERLOO STATION

GAP LIGHTING continues to illuminate many iconic buildings and monuments throughout London; the UK; and across the globe, but we were especially proud to be given the opportunity to light Waterloo Station in support of the NHS workers during the difficult COVID pandemic. Waterloo Station is the UK’s largest and busiest station with over 100M people passing through each year. GAP LIGHTING’s smart RGBCCT iFLOODs now sit proudly over the main entrance and the Victory Arch which commemorates World War I and the staff who died during the war.

BATTERSEA POWER STATION

Located in Battersea Power Station’s spectacular Art Deco Turbine Hall A is the amazing Lift 109 experience. It is a journey through time, delving into the building’s fascinating history through a collection of original records and expressive media displays. Just like in the world of Willy Wonka, this lift ascends 109 metres up the north-west chimney, travelling through a tunnel of vibrant neon light constellations which guides passengers to an unforgettable panoramic city view from its highest point.

To enhance this exhilarating experience, GAP LIGHTING’S 240V NEON FLEX RGB Striplight illuminates the foyer and the entire lift’s interior. A series of neon spirals generate a cyclical lighting illusion as visitors transcend upwards to the top of the elevator and out of the chimney, greeted by a 360° view of London’s skyline. A fusion of our bespoke cutting service, the product’s flexible PCB and colour changing possibilities not only met the client’s requirements, but also assisted them to bring this project to life.

For Lift 109, the illumination plays a pivotal role in the overall experience and visitors are treated to a unique journey like no other. With a super bright LED light output, sealed rubber enclosure, and direct to mains feature, our (code) provides a continuous 240V neon light effect, complementing the immersive tunnel effect. Its UV and IP65 protection means it can withstand the lift’s movement and exterior elements, delivering high durability and endurance whilst providing a striking lighting display. NEON FLEX 6000K is also implemented in the foyer of Lift 109, showcasing miniature versions that reflect the lift’s aesthetic, with smaller neon spirals ascending upwards to create a sense of illusion and continuity, giving visitors a taste of the adventure to come. The light fixtures are mostly set to Red or Cool white, however the client has the power to adjust the colours and tones, using the GAP LIGHTING 6 Zone RGB Remote offers a broad range of RGB colour possibilities, allowing visitors to me immersed in the fun, captivating experience.

VIRGIN ACTIVE – O2 ARENA

The Virgin Active hub, located in the main foyer of the London’s O2 Arena, offers fun and entertainment for everyone. In collaboration with Digital Foundry, this gaming club is designed to provide superior gaming experiences in one welcoming, energising environment. GAP LIGHTING was given the aim of creating a fun and dynamic space that would truly represent Virgin Active’s ethos. We opted for our SOLAS downlighters in the foyer, due to their minimalist aesthetic and sleek design, but also their smart, colour tuneable capabilities which offer flexibility and endless colour changing options. The 6000k LED cool white temperature illuminates the foyer, bringing life to a once dark corner to align with the bright vibrant ambience to complement the Virgin red colour scheme. Using app or RF touch control, the client still has the option to adjust the colour, tone, and brightness whenever they desire.

Typically used as exterior ground lights, our SS316 GL0140 recessed fittings have been installed in the stairway to generate uniformed bright colour illumination both sides of each step, leading the way to Gaming Heaven. Offering high powered CREE technology, ensuring energy efficiency, high performance, and minimal maintenance, these 3W LED fixtures are certainly cost effective. With its marine-grade 316 stainless steel housing, toughened safety glass, and IP68 protection, it could be argued this product was overkill for an interior application, but the overall aesthetic with its triple optic, adds to the fun factor and offers a perfect welcome into this playful space.

Visit the main auditorium at London’s Olympic Studio for a life like audio experience in luxury and comfort. GAP LIGHTING’s warmwhite interior striplights have been installed under the seating and around the walls, adding to the ambience and whole intimate experience of this amazing cinema.
